Peek-a-Boo Blackbird

Another from Ridgefield on Wednesday. I really liked this preening pose with just the base of the beak showing and the clear look at the eye.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 1.4TC, propped on pipe insulation on truck window, f8, 1/320, iso 640, Av mode, no exposure comp. Processed in LR5 + CS6. Cropped to 5.5 MP of the original 16. Digitally excised a cattail tip that had the temerity to touch the Blackbird's tail.

Your comments and criticisms are always appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

Wonderful pose indeed Dennis, and the visible eye makes the image. Concentrated on it's preening, but still checking around ! Well done, Cheers, hans

What a great pose with excellent detail in the blacks Dennis, I might include more of the reed and a little bit less room on top, although it sounds like that may have made the cloning work more difficult. :toast:

Neat pose Dennis. You have captured really good detail in the blacks. The eye peeking at you really makes the image.

Nice image all around Dennis...also like the pose...nice to see one not in the "usual calling" pose for a change.

This is very nice Dennis, the exposure looks perfect.
I especially like the view of the eye, peeking around the feathers as it preens..
Excellent detail, well done :toast:

Sorry Nate. No more room on the bottom unless I steal some more cattail from another frame. The cloning was pretty simple in this case as the cattail tip went along the edge of the tail and a bit behind it.
