Reddish Egret WhiteMorph
by Nate Chappell
Here's a white morph Reddish Egret photographed last month in Corpus Christi, TX. This guy walked right up to us and put on a nice show, it was taken about 10am on a sunny morning. He just struck the water but missed and I think he's shaking out the water which produces the water trail. I placed the bird fairly high in the frame because I cropped out an off brown area just above where I cropped.
Canon 5D3 500F4 1/5000 F7.1, iso 500, evaluative metering at -1.0 in AV mode, about 60% of the original.

14 commentsThe crop works well for me. Looks like you got a nice low POV to blur the water in the foreground and the background nicely. The droplets of water coming off the beak are super sharp and really make this image for me. This is one of my bucket list birds. Have never seen one but I just love the white morphs. Your exposure is spot on and the head angle is perfect. Even the trailing tail feather is not all dirty. The large image is just spectacular. Wish it were mine. Maybe someday.
Very well done.
Sweet photo of this rare beauty Nate.
