Back to the peregrines. This is the female peregrine delivering a meal to the juvi peregrines. This particular delivery did not result in an attempted in air exchange. Not sure why. The conditions were poor as they were for the entire month and a half shoot. I think it actually makes for fairly even lighting if a bit on the flat side. There were two juvis hanging around right underneath where I was standing so the mom appears to be looking at me although I'm not sure she actually is or not. Both adults were very tolerant of the few photographers who were shooting these birds. Several times the mom landed inside of minimum focusing distance with out a worry in the world.
This is also an area where there is model plane/glider planes flying on the afternoon winds and they are way more objectionable to the planes, attacking them constantly. Quite a sight.
This seems to be my usual quote for each shot I post but this was cropped very significantly (almost 81%). Thanks for stopping by for a look. Have a great weekend!

WP material for sure. Incredible catch - staring right into the camera, tack-sharp, excellent view of prey, and clear BG.
EEEEEK.

What a cool perspective, you even have eye contact which really adds to the intimacy of the shot imho. The background colour is very attractive and suits the scene well. Any idea as to the identity of the prey, sort of suggests a Say's Phoebe or Bluebird? I'm impressed how well this big crop has held up, even with high iso. :toast:

This stood up very well to the crop, David. Excellent flight pose and whether or not she's looking at you, it certainly provides nice eye contact.

Gary,
They seem to catch lots of doves so that's what I'm assuming the prey is although I do not know. She brought this in to the cliff face directly below me and this is the last I saw of it.

Thanks Sandy for your comment.

Glad you posted this David, even with the extreme crop it's an exciting image.
Love the pano comp, head on POV, and direct eye contact.
The hapless & 'headless' prey adds a good dose of realism as well.
Great shot! :toast:
