Riding on a Star

I'm very grateful to Lorna for the identification of these Spring starflowers ( Ipheion uniflorum ), native to S America, which I have never noticed here before. Caught a small fly taking a ride as a cluster of them floated on the breeze.

Canon 7D, Tamron 55-200mm lens @ 161mm, 1/400 sec @ f5, ISO 500, HH.

Ha…nice capture of the flower and fly! I like the overall soft low contrast colors and brightness. I might even venture a bit more in darkening a few spots and the background to give it a more emerging feel of the single bloom.

This looks great, Ian. Nice focus on the "star" with support from a lovely chorus. In addition, I'm chuckling about the bug "going for a ride".

Excellent how the background compliments the main flower. Just the right amount of detail. Nicely done Ian!

I like this a bunch Ian. The DOF and shutter speed give me a feeling of motion. Really well done in my opinion.
