This Blue Jay looks like he's sliding into second base to me..
I removed the branch left side, & considered pasting in a base but 'stopped short'

Wow, what a neat catch! Wouldn't want to be the shortstop on the receiving end of those high spikes.

Great image. What lens do you usually use? You always have "spot on" stop action

I must disagree with you, I believe he's heading for home. Great capture! Ron

Not sure what base he's going for, but the slide is definitely on here, Howard.......
Truly an excellent mid flight stop action shot IMO.

Howard,
I know for sure this is just one of the many outstanding Wildlife Leaping images in your library and I hope we will be seeing more from you this week.
Great title for this one and oddly enough, the Blue Jays lead the league in stolen bases last year.
Well done . . .
Correction, the Jays ranked 11th last year so this call could go either way with a good throw from the plate !

He does look like he is coming in for a sliding landing! Your high shutter speed (and skill) really allowed you to capture this bird, frozen in the air, and with good details on the bird. The blue background coordinates so nicely with the Blue Jay too. Great mid-air capture, Howard!

Awkward. Puttin on the brakes in mid-air. Fun shot Howard. Nice details for fast action too.

Wonderful flight pose with the feet extended. Maybe add a bluejay baseball cap?
