Welcome to NPN! Glad you're with us!
This is a terrific first post - a beautiful bird, sweet pose and head-turn, bright eye, perfect DOF, great water and BG.

Looking forward to more of your posts, and your participation in comments and critiques of others' work too!

Welcome to NPN. Thanks for posting this beauty. Very nice. I like the low angle, the shallow depth of field and the overall composition. Looking forward to more of your images and your participation in comment/critiques on images.

I like the low angle/POV and this shallow DOF works well.
One suggestion would be to eliminate some off the bottom, moving the loon down a bit.
Welcome to NPN Oyvind, looking forward to seeing more of your work.

A truly mesmerizing image, welcome. Only thing I'd change is that circular artifact to the right. :toast:

Welcome to NPN. The head turn is very nice and helps to make the image work. The breast below the throat patch looks a bit hot, but handling the exposure on any loon is a bear. I might crop half the OOF foreground. The blurred effect is pleasing, but I don't feel you need quite as much to be effective.

Welcome to NPN, Oyvind. This is a great first post with an excellent angle and head turn and great light. You might want to play with shadows/highlights to see if you can bring out a bit more detail in the lower neck, and if this were mine, I think I'd clone out the two specular highlights to the right of the bird-the second one in particular keeps drawing my eye. An excellent image.

Thank you for your comments. My goal is to learn so much more about nature photography. Still in "kindergarden" when it comes to photography

Beautiful light!!! I really like your low perspective, the dual tones of the water and the background work nicely in this photo. A very pleasing composition.

Welcome to NPN, I am looking forward to seeing more of your photography.

WOW, I wish I could shoot like this in kindergarten. Seriously, excellent first post. Welcome aboard. Looking forward to seeing more like this. Your POV in exceptional here. You and Hans must shoot together because you both seem to be able to get right on the ground for your shots. It really makes an enormous difference.
You have a beautiful composition, stunning colors, and wonderfully blurred foreground and background, a near perfect head turn and it's sharp. The chest looks a little bit hot but that is the only nit I can find fault with. Keep them coming for sure. Can't wait to see your next shot!!! :toast: :toast: :toast:

Welcome, and a nice shot indeed ! Very calm atmosphere in the image. Maybe you could try and desaturate a little, but other than that a fine image :wavey: , Hans
