Anhinga anhinga

I really liked this classic Anhinga pose in full breeding plumage. Not real happy with the perch, but I couldn't pass up the shot. There is detail on the high res version in the blacks on the back, but I had trouble bringing them out in the compressed version.

What a wonderful pose it gave you! Exposure is nice in the wings, tail, and head, and real nice details. Looks like at the right hand side of the body you're getting real close to having a halo...so probably not a lot you could do to get more out of those blacks. This is one of the nicer Anhinga images I've seen, either way. Sharon

A handsome pose. Don't mind the perch at all. A minor nit, but the bird seems slightly rotated, so a perfectly perpendicular look with slightly MORE centred subject would be my suggestion. As the bird's head is turned to the right I can understand why you gave a little more room on that right side, at least that is my assumption. Very cool bird and photo! :toast:

Sweet, Matt. I wouldn't worry about the perch, it certainly looks good to me. Great pose and angle.

Great classic drying pose. I have no problem with the perch and the detail and color of the bird are great.

Matt,
This is Classic indeed and very well captured. Be thankful of this perch as it allowed you this unobstructed view of this beautiful bird. Most of the time these guys are found in cluttered environments that make it hard to get a clean shot.
Well done . . . :toast:

We rarely get a clear view of these guys, so I'd be very happy with that clean perch.
Very well-done!

Wow, fantastic pose. I think it could use a slight crop from the right. I understand the bird may technically be centered as-is, but to me the uneven empty space on the left and right sides seem to throw the composition off-balance.

Love the centered comp you chose for this and the perch worked well to help display the pose.
