April 8, 2014 Parker River National Wildlife Refuge, Plum Island, Massachusetts

On our recent trip to the Boston area, I had one day to shoot and went to the Plum Island area seeking Snowy Owls. I posted one a few days ago. Until the last part of the day when I finally photographed an owl, shots of a flock of Wild Turkeys were the only bird shots on this dreary, often rainy day. This Tom posed with his tail feathers furled most of the time I was there.

Nikon D4 Nikkor 600mm 1.4TC 850mm ISO640 1/1250 f/8 White Balance Cloudy Processed in Lightroom, CS6, and NIK.

Good job catching this Tom in full strut Patrick. Well composed and the background colors work really well with the Turkey. Because of the lighting conditions I would be tempted to bump up the contrast a tad to give the blacks a little more pop. A small nit on an excellent image. Great job!

Nice shot Patrick. The larger view shows the detail you captured. I'm inclined to agree with Matt on a bit more contrast, but I think I would try using Clarity where it tends to focus on the mid tones a bit more.

A small consolation prize... we have hundreds of wild turkeys that start squawking at dawn minus 20.
Nice angle on this fellow, but could use more contract and/or structure. Sorry you didn't find more snowies..

Nice image Patrick...of course love the open tail feathers and the low angle. Agree the image could use a bit more pop.....but nice you had this alternative to photograph....it's a good alternative to have.

WOW Patrick. That's a winner in anyones book. I agree with some of the others about the need for some clarity. What a pose with great light. Stellar image my Friend. Way to go. :toast: :toast: :toast:

Quite a display he's putting on. Very nicely captured and composed Patrick. A little more contrast for me too. :toast:
