Trillium Reprise

Another Sessile Trillium. I went out to the oak woods yesterday with this shot in mind. The bg is a piece of stiff black felt I took along. The exposure was such that there was some mottled light in the bg in the image, so I lowered the exposure on it a bit to get the uniform black I was after.

5Diii, 180mm f3.5 macro, tripod, f32, 1.6sec, iso 400, 1 stop overexposure, Aperture priority. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Full frame. Removed an oof bug that strayed into the frame at the wrong moment (or maybe it was motion blur at this shutter speed). Taken April 13th at 9:41 am.

Your comments and criticisms are truly appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

I like close up composition and placement within the frame as it has a nice balance for me. I do no know if it would of been possible to get another angle to show more of the yellow interior but a fine shot as is.

Very nice image, Dennis! I like the comp, colors, and "pose" of the flower. If it were mine, I would remove the small black spot on the yellow part of the flower.

Nice composition firmly anchored at the bottom.

The details show up nicely against the black background and in this image you've got nice soft lighting to really let the details show off. I also like how the petals swirl, giving a nice a sense of movement.

Nicely composed to show off the symmetry of the center, Dennis. Very nice.

Lovely sense of a flower unfolding, Dennis, beautifully executed in every way. Love the overlapping petals especially.
