‘Eagle Alert’
Mark Seaver and I had several encounters with Osprey’s catching fish and then coming under attack from an Eagle trying to steal the fish away, a very common accordance this time of year. This was part of one such episode when the Osprey had alluded the Eagle for the moment and was resting on this perch not to happy about the whole ordeal.
Hand held from boat, 65% of full frame.

Nice POV and comp, really like the open beak with tongue extension Mike.
Sounds like the osprey was working hard to hang on to its lunch, the competition fierce..
Great color, exposure, and detail, well done! :toast:

This looks great, Mike. I still see some sharpening halos, especially around the bill. With this type of photo (clean background) it would be pretty easy to only select the subject for sharpening. That would get rid of the halo. :toast:

Wonderful pose with the open beak and fish. I have not seen that many osprey so I was curious as to the aqua green color along the bottom of the legs?
Nice job getting this hand held from a boat, way to go.

Sweet! You have everything going for you on this—action, pose, eye contact and a super perch. Selecting the bird and sharpening only the bird would get rid of the halo. If you haven't upgraded to CS6 or PSCC, the refine edge feature of both in selecting to a layer works wonders for sharpening and/or other changes. :toast:

Mike,
Love the open mouth and visible tongue. I too was wondering about the green and blue legs on the osprey. At any rate a great capture and a good story to tell what was happening.

I like the pose with the fish and the calling action. Maybe pull back just a bit more on the Highlights to see if the whites on the top of its head will show some detail.
