Skagit Tulips w/RE-POST

Skagit tulip fields aren’t as prolific as +20-30 years ago…even the last 5 years has seen a decline in the number of bearing fields. Economics must be hitting ‘em hard.

I abruptly woke up early this morning and decided to drive north to try for a sunrise tulip shot. When I arrived, the clouds were stacked up thick to the east..not bad with a lot of clearing to the west….if that holds, it will probably be a great sunset tonight.

35mm Zeiss with polarizer on Nikon d800e.

Ken: I would really like to see the valley in bloom. I like the foreboding mood and would even consider a crop from the top to get rid of the bright spot in the clouds ULC.>=))>

Really unique juxtaposition of elements, Ken. Certainly not a typical field of tulips shot. Never would I have associated the words tulip and foreboding together. I like it :toast:

I think this is the most unusual (and beautiful) shot of tulips I've ever seen! Love the reflection of the flowers in the puddle. NICE work!

Definitely, moody in a great way. I really like the reflections of the flowers down the wet path and the sense of flowers going on to the horizon. Agree with Bill about cropping the bright area top left.

Gorgeous shot, Ken. I love your pov, and the gray sky really fits this well. I agree with Bill that a little off the top might make this even more powerful.

Ken

Unusual flora to say the least. The mood of the image comes across loud and clear and the low angle shot and reflection makes this special. :toast:

First rate image, Ken ! Superb sky, great perspective, and a nice concept with the reflections adding so much. I do like so much a shot such as this which suggests a mood - and I would say you were lucky with the weather !!!!

Thanks for the comments! The ulc was cropped or darkened ( a little of both - in the redo). Comments were nearly unanimous to deal with it. How cool is that… much appreciated. Here is a redo…I was light in my approach…sometimes over-correcting ruins the balance. Hopefully, this achieves the target. I also cloned out the right partial tulip - that kept bothering me…burning a slow hole in my brain...
