Detail looks good, and I like the environment, Rick. I do wish that one dead reed slanting from back to plume hadn't been there-for some reason it really grabs my eye.

Good exposure, even with the light from above & behind.
Great details, like the stalking pose & salt water marsh habitat Rick.
I might try & bring up the face/eye a bit, just a thought.
Well done! :toast:

Adult Yellow-crowned Night Heron. The raised foot is nice on this one. The detail looks good in the larger version. I might use the Shadows slider to open up this side of the Heron. It all depends on how deep you think they need to be to keep the light balance looking natural. I do think you would be safe in cropping up from the bottom some (maybe half the distance). You'll still have room for the virtual feet and it will pull him more out of the vertical center.

Rick, you have a Yellow-crowned Night Heron here. I like the pose and environment, but you were dealing with some pretty tough lighting conditions. Nice detail considering the conditions.

Tough light conditions, but the bird actually comes out pretty good in the larger version. The image seems slightly tilted, but difficult to tell without a grid. Nice work ! Hans
