Thinking its a female Red-winged Blackbird - but I often misidentify this bird.

Scott,
This is sweet . . .
The BG is outstanding and the contrast between the colors of the perch and the browns of the subject work really well IMO.
Nice work . . . :toast:

Looks like a female brown-headed cowbird to me, Scott. It is a wonderful shot.

Sweet complimentary BG, and the new cacti blooms make a colorful perch Scott.
Great comp and sharp details. This cowbird female's all dressed up with nowhere to go:wink:
Well done :toast:

No nits here. This one looks super even if she isn't wearing the fanciest feathers on the block. :toast:

Peter's got it - Brown-headed Cowbird. For ID it is always worth looking at the beak - a cowbird's bill is heavier/more stout than the straight-edged sharply pointed Red-winged Blackbird.

A nice image, with good sharpness, clean setting, and good composition.

Absolutely stellar in every way Scott. That background is wonderful!!The perch is colorful, detailed and appropriate. The light is very nice and the side profile means she's sharp from head to tail. Love the little bit of food debris at the end of the beak. Excellent image!! :toast:

Lovely perch and background colors. And the bird isn't half bad either  . The techs are really good ! If it were mine, I would try to make it a bit lighter, but that's a personal preference. Simply great shot ! :toast: :toast: , hans
