Spring Beauties

by Carolyn Derstine

These wild Spring Beauty flowers are popping up all over my lawn and flower beds right now. I isolated this clump with black velvet.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/25 for 1/5 sec. ISO 160. Tripod mounted, natural lighting.

Very delicate, yet with a strong composition Carolyn. Those are very pretty blooms. Really nice.

BTW - congratulations on your 'Assignment' photo that was chosen for Outdoor Photographer. I liked the way that your ice photo 'flowed'. Congrats!

I like the flow of the composition with the flowers at the top, then buds and then the branch fading into the dark background, way to go.

I see you like the pink ones too. This is a great look showing the whole plant. The black background makes for a fine formal portrait.

One of the nicest spring beauty shots I've seen. Nicely composed and good use of the black velvet. :toast:
