Here's an image I took on the commercial flight going up to Anchorage, Alaska. This is from last September, and I'm not sure why I never got around to posting this! I wanted more than just a 'short glimpse' at this magnificent peak, but the airliner's cruising speed decided otherwise...

I believe we were cruising at 38000, and the ride was amazing, with the setting sun hitting the peaks somewhere in Alaska. Unfortunately, I have no idea what peak this is, but it was not far inland from the coast, as our flight was presently over the ocean.

Now I'll say upfront that I did add the 'tilt-shift' appearance, by use of blurring in the fg and bg. I liked how it helped make the biggest peak stand out, but I'm expecting some dislikes about that effect, so I may get around later to posting the regular version. I should add that absolutely nothing other than the blurring was added or altered in this image. :)

Canon 60d 55-250mm @ 60mm
ISO 400 -- f/4.5 -- 1/1000sec -- handheld

Please view LARGE! :)

Nathan, I really enjoy your TS effect. Gives this image an even dreamier feel than it would normally. It takes it from a landscape to more of an art piece.

Fantastic view Nathan. I like the focus is on the major peaks bathe in that warm light.

That's an amazing, and beautiful, grab for a commercial flight Nathan! As predicted  , I'd rather the peak be separated by light than blur, but it's a personal preference thing and this is a wonderful shot either way.

I like the effect of the blur, Nathan. Very cool. It seems every time I'm on a commercial flight, I never have a window seat.

First of all, what an extraordinary view with amazing light. The clouds really make this one come to life. I'm not bothered by the reduced DOF from the selective blurring in processing. However, I think I would prefer the regular version as there is so much to enjoy from corner to corner in this image.

Nathan, I'm totally enjoying this view. I like how the sharp peaks stand out in this wonderful light. Your processing works quite nice with this image. It really is quite a site and I would enjoying seeing the regular version as well. :toast:

I really enjoy the somewhat pink glow. I might boost contrast just a wee bit.

I really appreciate the comments, everyone.

Bill---I see what you mean; it definitely could use a bit more contrast. Thanks

Here is both a version without the selective blurring, and also with some added contrast. Thanks so much for the comments/suggestions. I wish I was able to post this version sooner, but my busy schedule hasn't allowed it until now!
