Where's Mum?

We found these 3 cubs on our first morning in Nxai Pan, Botswana. They never really came near our vehicle (no off road allowed). We checked on them endlessly for our stay of 3 nights and Mum never returned (Lions are not very good Mums)
I have since checked with our friends who run a lodge there and have found out that neither the cubs or their Mum have been seen since. Given that the reserve has very few roads it is highly probable that they just cannot be seen , we hope they are OK.

Having posted this I have noticed a red line near the bottom presumably introduced during processing, I will remove it :frown:

Ken,

This is really nice. I love the great eye contact with the two cubs on the left. I guess the little guy on the right didn't get the memo about looking in the same direction as his siblings.Still a great shot to be able to capture three of these cute guys (gals) in the same frame. The sharpness is really good. I do see a little noise in the background in teh larger image. Easily dealt with. Still loving the 200-400 is guess. I certainly am enjoying mine. Well done.

Life does seem to be full of unanswered questions, doesn't it? I hope these guys/gals got with their mum! Well composed, perfect DOF. It seems a little washed out on my monitor.

very cute Ken. If I am honest i do not think this is one of your best shots.
For me the foliage obscuring the middle cub is irritating and I would have like your shooting position to be further to the right so that the RH cub was not in shadow.
I know, I'm being picky.

Hi Ken,

I like how the cubs are covering all the angles with their stares. I'm not minding the vegetation that's overlapping the middle cub, but do find the shadows a bit unfortunate - especially on the right-most cub - would have been nice if you had some thin clouds to even out the lighting (but obviously that's way outside your control). I'm not sure if this is full-frame or already cropped, but if full-frame I'd suggest tightening up the framing a tad (my choice would be to remove some of the real estate on the top and right side of the frame, but that's largely a personal preference issue).

Cheers...

Brad

Thanks everybody, I agree entirely that this is not one of the best, but it was one of the few reasonable poses all three presented. Once again moving the vehicle is limited by the no off road rules, not much you can do about that or the grass and shadows
