Baltimore oriole

Just happened to be there as many orioles were around, male and female Baltimore's,and a male orchard. My assumption is this is a juvenile male. Could not decide to try and clone out the branch going over the birds feet or not, any thoughts?

Canon SL1

Sigma 120-400 @ 400mm, monopod

Photographed at the Sugar Grove Nature Center, which has feeders in the area.

John: nice oriole - I like the pose, color and detail. I'd keep the twig as captured/

Howard: that's a Lesser Goldfinch, black-backed form, and not an oriole.

Thanx Rich, it sure gets difficult when you have these changing juvenile forms.
After all these years, I still get it mucked up.
Need to have more patience when I search the web..

Nice look at this Oriole, John! I agree with Howard that the branch in front of the birds feet would be too difficult to clone out. If this were mine, I would crop from the bottom just above the white oof branch with the vine around it and also crop some off the top. This would help eliminate some of the busy areas in the bg.

Excellent job of preserving all the detail in what looks like some difficult light, John. I'd really be tempted to remove that twig, but it wouldn't be easy for my skill level to reconstruct the partially covered toe. A really nice pose.

Hi John: Very nice pose of the oriole. A little busy, but that is where he was. Saw your question about the twig in front of the bird. Saw the responses and couldn't resist the challenge!! Here's a version with the twig removed. I spent about 10 minutes working this so it isn't perfect, but not too bad to see what it would look like without the twig. See what you think!
