Elk Cutie

I watched a small herd of cow elk and their calves bed down close to the Madison River in Yellowstone. The cows did a good job of picking the patch of meadow, as it had grass high enough to hide the elk. I knew that it was only a matter of time before the calves got restless and stood up. So, I positioned myself and waited. Sure enough, this little guy could only stay still for so long. When he stood up, I grabbed this shot. I thought the cute factor was pretty high.

Jerry,

On my monitor this looks to have a magenta cast?
Great expression but for me just a little too much "shake", I would have gone for higher ISO (is 800 usable in a 7D?)

Beautiful image, Jerry. Liked the way you've used the long grass to "frame" the calf.
Agree with Ken's remarks on magenta cast. However I personally liked that wee bit of shake in the upper lip of the elk while its chewing.

Thanks for the comments. I agree about the magenta cast. I made an adjustment.

A neat behavioral shot Jerry, the color balance in the repost looks much better to me. The lower jaw with the teeth showing makes the shot. :toast:
