sorry guys, i've been too busy lately to post and comment. today i finally found some time to try and catch up - but i'll not be back fully before end of july..

i shot this scene on a recent trip through colombia. quite some amazing landscapes they've got there. this particular area (a high altitude national park) is one of the best places to view the milky way i've ever been to.

the haloish glow comes from the rising sun. the milky way was shot at twighlight already.

Parque Nacional Natural El Cocuy, Colombia
Canon 5DMKIII, 14-24 @ 14mm
three exposure blended. milky way ISO3200/20sec. foreground 2x ISO200/600sec. f/2.8

thanks for taking the time to look!
c&c are very welcome,
joerg

Looks like a great place to explore Joerg. A very nice scene and comp but I find myself wanting to see a bit more detail in
the mountains and more contrast in the stars. That's just a personal thing for me. Good luck on your travels.

Lovely shot Joerg. I agree with Bill on bringing out some more detail in the mountains.

I like this just as you have presented it. In the large version there is sufficient detail in the mountains. I think the darker presentation is not only appropriate for a night image but also emphasizes the interesting shape of the peak and provides a nice counterpoint to the brighter Milky Way and reflection. I wouldn't change a thing about this. :toast:

Very nice. I like the simplicity and the pre-dawn glow

Beautiful image Joerg. I guess I might like the greenery on the right just a tad brighter but it's hard to know. My camera sees a lot better in the dark than I do and on night images I feel like it sometimes ruins the actual scene. I'm assuming you're posting this as you saw it, with a little help from the camera on the sky and I like the image as posted.
