In April we visited India to do a lot of wildlife safaris. During the hot afternoon hours I often strolled around the hotel gardens. This beautiful butterfly was sitting on these flowers for some time. I wish for the BG to be a bit better, but you can't have it all…

Great colors all around. The green leaf on the left is quite distracting - whereas the rest of the background doesn't bother me (as the shapes and colors are similar to the flower

I like the interesting BF and the colors of the flowers and bg, Ellen; I agree w/ Luke re the leaf on the left. I'd crop the top of the image and clone out the protruding stem in the URC, but I'm not sure anything can be done about the leaf on the left. I'd probably crop about 1/2 of it.

It's a gorgeous butterfly, Ellen, and it took a few glances to determine which end was its head. Like others have mentioned, cropping away much of the leaf on the left might make the image even better.

Beautiful species of little Hairstreak Ellen, nice to see one from India!
Great title because Hairstreaks' "tails" are used to distract attention away from their head.
TFS! :toast:

Nice rendering of the colours of the wings, Ellen, with sharp detail. Might be worth cloning out one or two of the odd stamens, as the overall colour of the bg seems fine to me.
