Grounded

This young male Osprey must be going through a learning curve and dropped his catch from his tree perch at the rivers edge and was on the ground to retrieve it. He was concerned about other Ospreys in the area and that allowed us to get extremely close before he flew back up into the tree. Hand held from boat, Full Frame.

Great head turn & POV Mike. I like the dark & light areas/layers of your comp, they seem to frame the osprey/make it really standout..
Detail looks good, well exposed. Nicely 'grounded' as well:biggrin:
I can't really tell what the food item is. Catfish?
Well done! :toast:

Nice one, Mike. Interesting to get one of these at eye level. Good job on the exposure and that's a killer head turn.

Very nice, Mike. The boat gave to you a nice, low angle, and the bird gave you a great pose. Nice work on the whites and good detail. The foreground is a little distracting but not badly so.

Mike,
Great catch, no pun intended. The back story makes it even more interesting. :toast:

Cool moment captured here Mike. I like the story in this a lot, I also like the head turn and really nice job on the techs here. My only nit is I wish the Osprey wasn't so centered. I might be tempted to move him to the right third and loose some space on the right and bottom to do so.
