Northern Fulmar

Canon 1D-X, 300mm x 2.0 TC, handheld lying on ground
f11, 1/1600, ISO2000

The wind was blowing pretty hard so I bumped up the shutter speed to freeze ruffling feathers and grass. The light phase Northern Fulmar is pretty uncommon in my experience; I was happy to find this lady on an egg. (They aren't exactly fancy nest builders.)

50% of full frame. Selective sharpening to bird.

C & C, please. Thanks for looking.

I like the closeup comp of this egg warmer, nice pose/head turn Jim.
If you hadn't mentioned she's sitting, would be hard to tell..other than the hunkered down pose.
Great job under these very windy conditions, a big congrats on finding 'this lady on an egg" :toast:

Jim,
Really like the low angle. It seems when I have an opportunity to get that low angle the ground is wet, covered in bird poop, or otherwise uninviting. You are posting an impressive body of work from this trip. Like the shot a lot. She looks very motherly.

Nothing to disclaim with this shot Jim, this is one fine image of a very infrequently seen bird. Wonderful setting and pose.
