On exhibit - The Evolution of the Bowie Knife, and Alamo Archaeology.
Shot on our visit to the Alamo compound in San Antonio, TX.
The Alamo Museum was built in 1936, as seen in the archway engraving.
My goal with this closeup composition is to show the stone engraving in detail..

That's quite an elaborate entry. I wonder if there are are craftsmen today who could replicate it and someone willing to pay the cost. I think work like this is probably a thing of the past. Great detail and nice B/W, Howard.

I love this type of image suited for b&w which looks great.

Great detail in this! The tones are excellent. I am curious about one thing, though: I see what looks like another building on the left, above the tree, is that so? If it is, it's a little out of key with ornate stonework. I don't know if there's anything you can do about it, though, other than burning it down, or blurring it.

I am from Tyler, and lived in Dallas many, years ago. My uncle was a cutler who made Bowie knives. Family legend has it that he somehow owned the patent for the design. I have no idea if it's true. He owned Seth Birdwell Cutlery in Beaumont for many years , and made some beautiful, custom knives.

And yes, God Bless Texas!

Hi Preston & thanx for commenting.
Yes, it's another building. I could've done some creative clone work, but opted out.
Although now that you've brought it up, I gave it a go :wavey:
