Almost too close!
by Dennis Plank
As I've mentioned before, I collect old fence posts to put up around the property as decorative perches. This one is on the edge of what I keep trying to make into a perennial hummingbird garden. I was set up for hummingbirds when this White-crowned Sparrow popped onto the fence post and posed nicely for me. I managed to get several shots with the whole bird in the frame, but just barely. I added canvas top and right using Photoshop's Content Aware Fill, which worked flawlessly in this instance (didn't even have to do any cleanup).
1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 2.0TC. Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f8, 1/800, iso 500, -1.3 stop compensation, aperture priority. Processed in LR5 and CS6. Full frame plus some on the top and right. Taken June 1st at 7:23 pm in my backyard.
Your comments and criticisms are greatly appreciated.
Thanks for looking,
