The Pollinator

This lady was hard at work making Columbine babies. I'd been seeing some of my images of hummingbirds with lots of pollen on the top of the head and chin and I finally got a series of images that show quite clearly how it got there. This is my favorite of the series, though there's a close second with a more classic angle and wing position. I deliberately left the developing seed pod in the image because of what I wanted to convey about pollination.

1Div, 500mm f4 ISL + 2.0TC, Jobu Gimbal on RRS legs, f8, 1/2500, iso 800, -2/3 stop compensation (didn't need the compensation in this case as I had to add some exposure in post processing), aperture priority. Processed in LR5 & CS6. Cropped from the right to 4x5 aspect ratio.

Your comments and criticisms are most appreciated.

Thanks for looking,

My eye was confused by the upside down hummer. I expected to see him right side up with his wings down. Very interesting photo. Love the flower. No nits here. :toast:

The pose is a little unconventional...I guess it was able to keep an eye on you and feed at the same time. Great clean bg and the red flowers really add. Sharon

So refreshing to see a unique angle. Technically...patience please, I'm still looking for a flaw.

Wow this image has a lot going for it and I just love the color. I'd clone out the OOF bud to clean things up
