This yearling's mother and what looked to be an older brother had already passed below my position without hesitation. After a tentative step or two it bolted out of frame.

Hi Brad,

Nice timing on this one - it definitely appears to be bolting into the frame on this one. I like the strong diagonal flow to this image. And - at least to my eye - you appear to have handled the high-contrast nature of the scene very well.

One suggestion: if this image is a crop (not full frame) and you have room, I'm thinking the image might be a bit more appealing if the subject is shifted slightly higher and to the right (having it coming into the frame a little more and helping create a sense of "elevation" to the image). Of course, this assumes there isn't some major distracting element below the lower left corner of the existing frame that would negatively impact on the shot.

Cheers...

Brad

Do you have any shots when it walked out into the fully sunlit area? The shadows of the branches on its shoulder are a little distracting. To me, at least.

Brad and Ajit,
Thanks for the feedback. It is a slight crop so I will check on what wiggle room I have. Unfortunately, its route did not yield a fully lit image as it pretty much dropped down and away from me, guess I will have to keep on trying.

I really like the action stance. I wish you had fewer shadows to deal with, especially across the main subject. The slope adds some tension to the composition.
