black and blue

by Ronald Murphy

Near Ubehebe Crater, Death Valley. I was struck by the contrast of black gravel against the blue sky.

Raw file processed in LR5, with TK resize/sharpening for web. Canon T3i, 1/400 s, f/6.3, ISO 100, EFS 10-22 mm @ 10 mm, CPL

Please view the large image!

Seeking any and all advice and comments. Thanks in advance.

And thanks to all who suggested places to see in Death Valley. We were mostly "blessed" with perfect vacation weather: brilliant sun in a cloudless sky. Not so good for photography though. Had to make do.

An interesting minimalist type image Ronald with nice texture in the rock and a nice sky. Nicely processed also. Nice.

I like this a lot. The lines on the ground really make this work for me, along with the clouds. Very abstract. It works very well.

I like the abstract quality of this. I also get a sense of energy from the diagonal in the comp. Well seen and presented. No suggestions.

Very nice image Ronald. I really like the "lunar" looking surface of the rocks/gravel. The blue sky contrasts well with the rest of the scene. Also, this one looks like it might make a great b/w image to me.

I sort of like the clean, abstract quality, but the 50-50 split loses tensions. Could see cropping quite a bit of the foreground.
