Well handled highlights and shadows and an interesting family scene. Minor nits—The adult is too crowded in the frame and the tail is clipped. Simply backing off a notch would have taken care of it.

Welcome to NPN, if you haven't been welcomed already. Feel free to jump in and comment. It is one of the best ways to learn!

Welcome to NPN Rufus, nice sharp shot with the 3 babies. A little more room around the adult would be helpful and you can post an optional larger version of up to 1200 pixels. I would encourage you to comment on others shots, it will help you develop your critical eye for your own work. :toast:

Another welcome to NPN. I hope you'll comment on others' photos as well as posting. Minor nits noted from Phil and Nate; I'd add that the kids are a bit soft.

How special to catch the adult with chicks! I have found it difficult to get catchlights in the little ones, but you may consider brightening the eye of the parent. A little more room for the virtual foot and all around would improve this. Excellent exposure on the blacks! Looking forward to more from you. Sharon

Rufus,
Welcome to NPN. We hope to see more from you. I agree with the comment above about the crop. The tail of the adult is clipped and the overall scene feels too tight. :toast:
