June 14, 2014 Taken at Charlie Van Tassel's home in Poway, California. This is one of my bucket list birds. They are so elusive I have never before gotten clear or not clipped image.

Nikon D4 Nikkor 600mm lens RAW ISO500 1/2000 f/8 White balance auto Taken on a tripod with a Wimberley Gimbal. Processed in Lightroom, PSCC, NIK and TK. Cropped about 50%

I like the rock the Quail is on, the background and the pose. All very nice. The shot does not appear to be sharp on the head or the body. Parts of the rock appear sharper than the bird to me.

Nice look back pose and lighting. I'd see if a bit more sharpening would help here.

Yeah, not as sharp as it should be. I know that you took a few frames. Good pose, background and techs.... but this one is a bit soft.

I think you focus point may have been too low; always try to make it the eye...
