Doublet Pool Connection

by Mark Seaver

Gallery: LandscapePosted June 17, 2014440 views21 comments
Here's a look at the connection between the two pools that are called Doublet Pool in Yellowstone's upper geyser basin showing some fine colors as well as a great collection of sinter (solidified silica). These colors show well under mid-day sunlight. (5D3, 70-200 f2.8 @ 100mm, 1/125s, f/16, iso 200, tripod and polarizer)

A great mix of abstract elements Mark. Great mix of colors. Makes me want to visit there. Never been to Yellow Stone but it is certainly up high on places to visit after seeing your image.

Well seen and imaged, Mark. I like the abstract look to this with the overlapping ridges and contrasting orange and blue colors.

Very cool, Mark. There is so much to explore in this image and it's a great journey. Great to have a beautiful place like this to shoot mid-day. My favorite parts of the image are the tentacle like shapes on the edges. Really well done. :toast:

Great comp with this diagonal 'slice', very nice colors and detail/DOF Mark.
I just watched an episode of 'Mega Disasters', learned all I need to know about Yellowstone's past.
And its future looks mighty daunting I must say.. and when it happens, look out man:eek:

Mark, you seem to get the finest out of this locale with a different look each time too. Again, as always, the colorful display of water(s) and landmass(es) are a real highlight to the scenes. An area in this NP that has such an amazing pristine look to the environment......

Mark, the color contrast between the blue and orange is very nice, as is the composition with the curves and points. It seems well-balanced.

Very interesting and beautiful photo Mark! Looks like some fragile stuff, but who wants to go so close to hot springs anyway.... Thanks for posting.

Wonderful abstract of these formations. The color pattern you have arranged ties everything together. I can't remember seeing the sinter rising out of the pools like this, or maybe this image highlights it well.

Really nice abstract, Mark. It's challenging to take these pools in a new way, and you have done it! Great colors and comp.
