This small orchid-like wildflower resembles a tiny magenta airplane without a tail. They grow in low colonies in conifer forests of the eastern United States.

Canon 60D. 180mm macro lens. F/3.5 for 1/100 sec. ISO 250.

Perfect dof, Carolyn, to set off this most unusual ( to me, anyway !! ) flower. Very nicely done.

Fine focus on this tiny flower. The water drops add interest, Carolyn.

Best,
Carol

What a lovely post :toast: I think you should have called it TWINS. I've never seen this flower before...it's exquisite. The color, comp and wonderful drops of water make this a Keeper!

Very nice Carolyn, what an interesting little orchid.
I like the "tiny magenta airplane without a tail" analogy, works for me
Well done & have a great weekend! :toast:

A very interesting bloom Carolyn. Nicely portrayed. I think that you conveyed the type of flower and area that they grow in very well.
