Mans Trash on the Trinity

Plastic and styrofoam are toxic to our waterways and ponds. This stretch of Trinity runs through Dallas as a Black Crowned Night Heron glides by and a Great White Egret stalks the rivers edge for food.
Having traveled up and down the Trinity by canoe it gets real ugly in areas that hold on to the the plastic during floods.

Plastic is such a global nightmare. Would love to see a complete story of the river.

And a lot of this junk ends up in our gulf. The plastic waste circulates out their for years like a giant toilet..
Then there's the 'dead zone' that covers nearly 7,000 square miles of the Gulf of Mexico, from fertilizer and pesticide use & the subsequent algal blooms that deplete oxygen levels..
Thanx for bringing attention to this Rick :wavey:

I like this image and the motion in the heron adds to it - making it really feel "alive". For this to really work as an EPJ photo I think the trash would need to be more visible (either brightly colored, more of it, or more in the foreground) but it does show how it mixes in with the natural community.
