Palouse School House

This was shot on May 31st while driving the back roads of the Palouse. I was just getting the comp set up when the property owner came and talked to us. He didn't want us to get close to the old school house (actually it was his insurance company) because it was literally going to fall down at any moment, so he reluctantly asked us to stay off the property. The odd angle of the building is not because of lense distortion. It's listing to the side and front so far it's hard to imagine it could stay that way much longer.

The property owner did tell us his grand father went to school there. It was quite a sight!

I like this, Steve. Has a bit of the fisheye lens look using the wide angle lens and the severe lean of the building.

WOW, in California it would have never lasted with our constant shakers....

Wow, I totally thought that was some serious lens distortion. Too bad you could not get closer. Some closeups from a safe distance would have been fun.

This reminds me of a Thomas Hart Benton painting. He was active in the 30s and 40s, and his work is noted for its lurid color and distorted perspective.

I like your comp Steve. The angle of the collapsing school house gives the image a surreal quality. Nice find.

I love it! You got it all smartly captured in this comp. The foreground tillers or clod smashers add much to this. My photos of this... stink. lol...I was standing right next to you …what gives!! …. anyway …great job and congrats on the well deserved WP!
