It was a pleasure to photograph a pair of these birds in an alpine area in the Rockies I hiked to last week.

Nikon D300s, 200-400VR @ 400, 200 iso, f5, 1/640, full frame, monopod. (My D4 is in for autofocus issue so using the 300s)

Great pic Gary. Love the position of the perch and the backdrop. Good stuff!

This looks great, Gary. I like the pose and the surroundings. I do see a pretty good halo around the bird. I would just select the bird and twig for sharpening to get rid of the halo. Also, there is lighter spot to the left of the branches I would smooth out. Very nice. :toast:

Thanks for the comments everyone. Charlie, I see the areas you are referring to. I selectively sharpened the bird only, the lighter area around the bird is natural, as is that lower left area. I could certainly try and even those areas out though.

Beautiful image, Gary.
I liked the perch, and the oof tree on the background.
I would only try to remove a kind of circle on the bottom of the image, on the left side of the oof tree.
