To Fast is to Slow

This was the new moon as seen last evening as it set. Seen from the ridge line of the Santa Cruz Mountains across another ridge. It was clear and calm. The moon was being warped in the atmosphere as it approached the horizon line.

The graphic nature of the ridge line coupled with the crescent had great appeal to me.

Nikon D2x, Nikon 400 mm f/5.6, ISO 100.

Oh...this moon marked the beginning of the month of Fasting, Ramadan, for the Muslims worldwide. Ergo the title, as when we fast we tend to also slow down.

Another nice crescent moon image, Youssef. There appears to be slight halo where the dark ridge meets the sky--could just eb my old eyes, though. I like the warm sunset light and the blue above.

I like this a lot, Youssef. Sometimes slowing down really pays off even if you are fasting. Very nice moon and the tele works well for this silhouette. Very peaceful.

A peaceful scene, and skillfully composed. That small band of blue sky is a fine boarder to the shot.
