Empty Skin

The Northern Water Snake that seems to have moved into my ponds last year has once again left me with an empty skin to play with. Here's a look at the skin off the head as it floats on the stream that connects the two ponds. This is the first snake skin where I've been able to see the details in the head like the eyes and the nostrils, which I think is pretty neat. (5D3, 100mm macro L, 1/250s, f/6.3, iso 800, tripod)

Very unique and cool image of the snake skin, Mark. Looks like a kid's inflatable toy. The retention of the facial features is remarkable. Thanks for sharing.

Mark, Unusual indeed. Interesting details in the head. You have made many good images from your ponds.

WOW, a very unique take here, Mark. Although I've been lucky enough to see this phenomenon in nature several times, this is the first for seeing such a detailed mask or head area. Well done and congratulations on the additional WP this week. :toast:
