Lilies of Yellow Water
by R.Bill Moser
Before sunrise we got on board of our guide's boat and then cruised into the darkness over a crocodile infested billabong. An eeriness filled the air as I knew danger lurks below and that a saltie might be watching us from the dark water. Only the buzz of a thousand mosquitoes broke the stillness of the foggy morning. It was a great morning scouting Yellow Water Billabong. We have already been for over an hour cruising the water system of the billabong as I saw these water lilies, the deat trees and low patches of fog over the wetland and witness how the soft morning light touched this landscape.
