Just Hangin' Out

I found clusters of willow sawflies on pussy willow stems by our pond. I'm surprised that this image turned out as well as it did due to gusty winds and bright contrasty light. Pentax K5 IIs, Sigma 180mm f3.5 at 1/160 sec, f16, ISO 800. Exposure and saturation adjusted in LR, Topaz Detail for sharpening. Due to the gusts of wind bouncing these larvae around, I also added some canvas on the left and bottom and cropped for composition.......................Jim

Jim, This is absolutely well done considering the hardships you had to face. The curved caterpillar on the right adds so much dynamism to this shot

It looks like they're more than "Just hanging out" Jim. They look like they're having a grand time devouring your pussy willow. Nice job isolating these two against the soft bg. I like their juxtaposition on the leaf and the way the image shows these little eating machines in action. :toast:

Very good detail/DOF and exposure of the difficult blacks.
And these two sure R busy sawing away too.. Even if they're "Just Hangin' Out"
Cool find Jim! :toast:

Jim:

Wonderful 'in action' image; eating and doing gym at the same time. Lovely clean bg to show off these cats. :toast:
