And…. Another Hummer

by Keith Bauer

Another from last Sunday.

The Coral Bells are favorites of the hummers in my back yard.

5D Mark III
100-400 @ 400mm

4 Canon 430 EX II flashes, 3 on the hummer, one on the background.
Camera set up so the ambient light would create a black frame, so 100% of this light is from the flashes. Goal is to provide a natural light look via flash.

Larger version included.

Nicely done. Great detail and the wing position is perfect. Kudos.

Nice looking frame. I like the pose and the detail in this one. The BG looks great and I really like the pano comp. Well done

Perfect pose and great flowers. Love the green BG too.
From here, there seems to be a green halo around most of the flowers.

Well done, Keith. I see the green halo Sandy mentioned, visible at about 120X. Not a problem at these resolutions, but definitely needs fixing for exhibition. Not to say at all that this isn't an expertly made image. It is amazingly good work! :toast:

Pretty flawless, Keith. This is a very good example of how to process and sharpen a photo to avoid the deadly "halo" effect. :toast:

Nice flash control, Keith. The light looks very natural. Such a great set of flowers against that background.
