Castaway's Park

July 12, 2014 This photo was taken last night at Castaway's Park shortly after the Super Moon rise. While in Cape Cod last week, we were at two beaches at sunset and there were a dozen photographers and hundreds of people watching the sunset. At this prominent location in Newport Beach, California, I was the only photographer and a few walkers stopped to see the moon. If you know Newport the shot was taken with the intersection of PCH and Jamboree to the right.

Nikon D800 ISO2500 24-120mm 120mm White Balance Auto 6 seconds at f/22 Raw, cropped slightly and minimally processed in Lightroom, NIK and PSCC.

Comments welcome and appreciated. :toast:

Patrick,

I love the mood of this and the lights and colors. I might consider a crop down from the top to get the sky into a thirds composition and place more emphasis on the moon but it might also change the mood from what you want.

I like the streaks of the lights on the right hand side and he depth of the view is nice. However, there is a lot of dead space and the headlights are a bit distracting. Additionally, the moon is washed out so it doesn't add too much. Unfortunately the only way to get this image "right" is a composite of two images - one exposed for the moon and one for the rest of the scene.
