Open Winged Queen

I was trying for flight shots of both the Queen & Giant Swallowtail today, no luck.
I've posted the Queen Butterfly twice now, here's the latest one with an open wing view. They nectar with wings closed, so I timed my shot when the insect would briefly open/close them..
Your thoughts on this type of background with its light/shadow, and leafy greens?
F/14, 1/800th, ISO 640, 1D M3, 300mm f/2.8 + 1.4x and fill around noon.

Nice to get this butterfly with it's wings open! Good color and detail. The bg looks good to me. It's natural and it shows the butterfly's environment.

Hi Howard,

I like the background of this image--it is simple and provides some contrast to the warm colors of the subject. The shadow area below and to the right of the flower helps push the subject out and away from the BG................Jim

Your Queen has a fine red throne, Howard. I think the background works well...enough detail to be recognizable, but far enough out of focus so that the more colorful Queen and her throne stand out well (due both to sharpness and to color).
