WC 643 - Wetlands

I took this recently, looking over Cheyenne Bottoms Wildlife Area, a Wetlands of International Importance, in central Kansas. An impressive string of thunderstorms was running almost parallel to my location, and sunrise was close. The whole experience was amazing, then the tail end of the storms caught up with me and forced me back into the car to avoid a serious drenching. 7D, ISO 200, f/8, 10 seconds, 17mm. C&C always welcome and appreciated.

That is one awesome lightning bolt, Rob, plus you've got some fine color gradations in the sky for additional interest.

Wow, thinking you can only see lightning like this out on the plains. Like your choice of mostly sky with just a little strip of ground, and the colors are remarkable. Nice snag!

Amazing lightning bolt Rob, and wonderful colors. We could sure use some of those storms in California.

Shocking image Rob,
It's no easy trick capturing a lightning bolt but you pulled it off very nicely. The combination of the lightning and the sunrise has created some very pleasing colors in that stormy sky.
Well done . . . :toast:

Really nice. I love lightning shots and really like this since it was during daylight. Not much, if anything, i can suggest. I like the shot, colors, exposure, etc..Only small change I might try if possible is add a little to the bottom, to see more ground, and crop an equal sliver off the top. Maybe just a little more room to the left of the main bolt.

Anyway, those are just preferences. Shot is really nice.

Thanks for the comments and suggestions. We had plenty of rain in June, which put a dent in the drought but we still have a ways to go. The rain came too late to save the wheat, and in fact it made the wheat harvest even tougher than normal. Fall crops will benefit though :).
