A flooded rice field in the central valley of California. Not sure if it is technically a wetland, but it doesn't rain here much any more so I'm not sure what is.

Thanks in advance for any comments or critiques.

Canon Md53, ISO250,115mm, f/16, 1/15 sec.

Beautiful colors, and the diagonal adds interest. Looks like a bit of a tilt to the horizon though, I think.

This looks like a wetland to me, Kathy, although it would be nice to know if it supports life besides rice during and after the growing season. You've caught a lovely sunset and a great reflection. I like the foreground textures from the rice stubble and how that distant grove of trees lines up with the setting sun.

Nice sunset and reflected colors. It is wet and it is land. The Clean Water Act describes wetlands as "those areas that are inundated or saturated by surface or groundwater at a frequency and duration sufficient to support, and that under normal circumstances do support, a prevalence of vegetation typically adapted for life in saturated soil conditions. Wetlands generally include swamps, marshes, bogs and similar areas."

A beautiful sky here Kathy, nicely reflected in the still water. I don't believe wetlands always have to be wet, either. Never knew they grew rice in CA, so that's interesting itself. Yeah, horizon off a bit; I drive myself crazy fixing mine all the time, even with grid lines and a level in my viewfinder  . The inclusion of foreground elements helps make the shot too.
