The picture was taken in the Banff NP in Canada. The bald eagle was sitting on a tree in the middle of a small river watching out for his breakfast.

This image looks a bit soft to me, but not as much as your recent grizzly posts. The shutter speed of 1/400s certainly helped. Was this hand held or on a tripod? The background, while busy, does show the habitat. Also, the whites in the top of the eagle's head are blown a bit. I do the same thing quite often when photographing eagles. I try to dial in an exposure compensation to ensure I don't blow the whites. You captured this guy in a great pose. Thanks for sharing.

Regal image of this Bald eagle. I wish for a bit more warmth in the background - though the "coldness" of the image certainly conveys an accurate feeling of Canada

nice capture of a stately pose. I'd suggest a shallower depth of field in this situation to try and blur the busy background. I'm a little surprised detail is as good as it is at f5.6 and 300mm. I'd also suggest cloning out or darkening the cut log end at lower center.

Nice detail in the Eagle, Reiner. The Eagle seems a bit further left in the frame than necessary and I do find myself wishing the piece of driftwood that goes horizontally across the head weren't so bright. A nice job on the exposure.
