According to my mate Jane who is now running Lion research in Hwange, this male is 13 years old, he looks pretty good on it.
Taken in Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe.

Ah, THERE is the lion I was looking for! No wonder he wasn't in Kruger!
This is a terrific image. My only wish would to have him on the edge of the hill so all paws were visible.
But, as we all know, they rarely comply with our fervent wishes and we are lucky to catch them at all.

Sandy,
I have only been to Kruger once so in all honesty I have no idea if they have "fine" males there.
In my opinion the best looking males i.e. those with big black manes are found in very few places the best being Central Kalahari Game Reserve in Botswana, but they are hard to find there, even the President Ian Khama missed out on his recent visit
The finest males I have ever seen resided a long time ago in the Kwando concession in Northern Botswana.
My friend and guide Dave Carson who has worked in Hwange for 20 years describes this lion as the best he has ever seen.

The low, low perspective helps accent this impressiveness! I agree with Sandy that seeing the feet would make this top shelf.
