Hebgen Lake Abstract
by Thomas Haney
Recently I was watching a sunset from the shore of Hebgen Lake north of West Yellowstone, and a sky show didn't seem in the works so I started looking around for something else to focus on. There was a small island of trees off shore and the wind was blowing lightly from the north, sending small ripples through their reflections and the movement was just mesmerizing. Capturing the scene was difficult, and after trying many different settings it seemed that a deep depth of field and slow shutter speed worked best. This shot is 1/15 of a second, toward the end of which I moved the camera slightly which you can see in the golden highlights. I think this image captures what I was seeing pretty well, but i'm curious if it works for others.
