Vernal Fall Rainbow (WC)

I thought I'd join in the "Waterfall Rainbow" sub-theme to the WC moving water theme. Sorry, it's not Yosemite Falls. This is Vernal Fall in Yosemite. I shot this in May while on vacation with my wife. Unfortunately, a large dead tree obstructed the right side the falls, and there was no way (absent sprouting wings) that I could get the entire falls and the rainbow. The rainbow was very vibrant. Does it make up for the comp issue? Thanks for looking. Comments, questions, and suggestions welcome. :wavey:

Scott, I think you did very well under challenging circumstances. You've got great intensity in the primary bow and a subtle secondary bow. I like the tree shadow in the upper left and your ss showing off some good texture in the main falls. Then, you've got the bit of stream running parallel and between the tow bows. I expect that is an unusual take on an often photographed scene.

Thanks, Mark. To get even this partial view required me to lean way out over a large rock with a long drop directly below me, while getting both me and my 24-70 lens wet with spray from the falls. Just too bad about that tree. I didn't mind not getting the rest of the falls as much as not getting the rest of the rainbow.

Quite different Scott, and quite nice. Very nice color and exposure and your composition works beautifully, like it alot. Well done.

I like the comp with the strong vertical lines in the top 3/4 of the image which is then softened by the curve of the rainbow and rocks at the bottom. The rainbow is a beautiful addition to this image! Nicely done.

Very cool Scott, don't know why you didn't get more eyeballs manlaugh

In my opinion the 'cosmic' subject matter more than makes up for any comp issue..

Just my two centsenlightened
