Haena Morning Colors

by Daniel Finchum

Another one from back in July while working a children's youth camp up in Haena of Kauai. This morning was the first time since I started learning photography about a year ago that I had three other photographer's lined up with me snapping away. It was an unusual feeling but a good time had by all.

Canon 5DM3 E16-35 at 16mm F22, ISO 100, 10Sec. Not sure about that SS, but that's what PS file info says.

This is awesome Daniel! Perfect composition and the colors are striking. It almost has a zoom effect to it. Nicely Done! :toast:

Daniel, the lovely gentle colors in the sky and their reflection are complemented well by the greens in the water and hills. I see some streaking due to movement in the clouds, so your camera is probably right about the ss. What a beautiful morning.

Beautiful color and mood Daniel. I like the smoothness created by your long exposure. No suggestions on my part.

I like this: nice mood. The clouds and the reflection are excellent. Given that, I would crop some of the dark area on the left. You did a good job, here.

Wonderful light and colors. My only thought might be to burn down the bottom edge some. Its sees bright and easily draws my eye out of the frame.

I like the SS used, it looks like 10 sec. to me.
It give the image a sense of movement.
Lovely colors.

Thanks everyone. Tony... you are right about that lower corner and will fix that. I guess that 10 seconds, although not really planned, turned out ok. Sometimes a little luck helps.

I like Tony's idea, so that the eye is drawn to those bright clouds. Nice beginning to the day!

I really like all the diagonal lines and the effect of pulling me into the scene. You captured a peaceful mood with the soft lighting, Daniel. great image.

I like this one, Daniel. I especially like the feeling of movement here in the clouds. It actually has a look and feeling of convergence taking place as a result of that look.
I could see a left hand crop as Preston mentions to eliminate part of the dark area. I think that also puts more emphasis back toward the water and the neat cloud formations. Nicely seen and captured.

Nice! Love the sky movement here. I can see lots of crop possibilities--but my favorite would be just the bottom water portion as an abstract pano--but that's cause I like weird photos
