Closer view of the backlit web I posted a few days ago. D600, 150 macro, iso 200, f25, 1/100, tripod held. You can't see it at this size, but almost every drop has a refracted sunstar. Comments, suggestions, and questions welcome. :wavey:

Here is a small section (right side middle) enlarged for detail.

Scott,

I like your second version with the sunstars showing. The larger version has crisp details and lots of bokeh which lends to the abstraction of the patterns of dew held by the web :toast: ..............................................Jim

Thanks for the comment, Jim. The second image is a significant crop and is just to show the detail in the original. I shot this image at f25 to catch the sunstars and max detail I have some versions taken with a smoother, less distracting bg. I'll post one of those in a few days.

Scott, the original post is a great look at a dew covered web with lovely details, a ton of drops, and fine background. The sunstars in the enlarged version are a great special addition. It's so hard to get a completely sharp web with dew, this is just spectacular.

Scott:

This is beautiful, like a piece of jewelry. The sun star is very interesting as well.

Beautiful pearl necklace, Scott. The small section really shows the wonderful detail. Can I ask your lighting conditions? With ISO 200, f25, 1/100, did you have very bright light? But it doesn't look strong in the image.

Thanks, Yun. To answer your question, this was taken is early and pretty strong (just slightly opaque) backlighting. The morning had started foggy, but the fog had almost entirely burned off and the sky was cloudless. The sun (which can be seen in the drops) was shinning directly behind the web.

Pretty neat, Scott. The BG and bokeh set this off nicely.
