Cooling Off

I just came back to some hot and humid weather after a few days in northern Wisconsin. It made me think about looking back at some of my Ice Cave pictures I shot in February. This is one I had not posted here yet so thought I would do it on this hot day and maybe cool things off a bit. I think the large version works much better!
Thanks so much for all of your comments on my last post. So much appreciated.

Sharp and cold Nick. The textures and tones hold my interest and keep my eye moving until I get to the long icicle in the lower right. Interesting patterns. I like the image as posted. No suggestions.

Very cool, Nick. The larger version is a must see to really enjoy the lines and the details. I like this.

Love this Nick! The lines and shapes make this a compelling composition. The B&W works great, and the large version really shines!

Beautiful tones, detail and composition in the large version Nick. Nice depth to this too. I'm tired of the heat too. Maybe I'll work on a winter pic too. Great shot here. :toast:

Pretty wild--reminds me of 'Alien'. Wont be long before we start seeing those--night are already getting colder round here... :wavey:

Real nice Nick, and I especially like the way you composed this, along with tones and detail. Beautifully seen and presented.

Thanks much guys! This was just the start of heading into one of the caves on Lake Superior and I thought it was quite interesting. It also had a nice cooling effect in our close to 100 degree temps yesterday. Cheers, Nick

You've made an excellent series of your ice images! I really like the abstract feel of this, and the tones speak to the cold. The processing look spot-on to me.

Well done!

I really like the image. Great patterns, shapes and tones. I would prefer it as a straight B&W, but others seem to really like the blue cold tone. Either way, fine image.

Love the subject and angle of view on your take here, Nick. This composition is excellent with the variety of color to the stalactite icicles hanging down. I would think this would have melted in an hour here in So Cal today.....

Nice work overall......

Thanks to all of you for taking the time comment! Glad you like it too. Also, I didn't do a b&w conversion on this with some tone added back in, although it does kind of look like that. This is the full color version. Appreciate all of your thoughts on it! Nick

Definitely looks "hot and humid", Nick. Neat abstract. I'm especially attracted to the shaded icicles at the back. They have a fine fractal sense with all of their jagged edges and the limited tonal range (looks very "4 tone"). Well seen and presented.
